New York Irish Center happily presents our Irish Language teacher Caoimhe Nic Giollarnáith and her all-new 10-week Fall course!

  • 10-Week Course

  • $300 ($30/week)

Two classes are available:

(Advanced Beginners is suitable for anyone who has taken the introductory course / has done another course somewhere else / learned the basics in school).

Sean-nós Singing Classes with Madelyn Monaghan

In this 7-week course taught by Irish-American traditional singer Madelyn Monaghan, students will learn the Irish traditional style of singing, sean-nós (old style). The class will include a basic introduction to the sounds and features of the Irish language as well as aspects of vocal technique like ornamentation. Each week, the class will learn a new song in Irish and also discuss its origin, translation, deeper meanings, and historical context. These songs are such a vital part of the Irish culture, and a wonderful gateway for learning the language.

  • Mondays, 6-7:30PM

  • 7 weeks: November 3-December 10

  • $210/course ($30/class)

Note: No previous singing experience or proficiency with the Irish language is required! This is a beginner course, and all levels are welcome. The class will meet in-person at the NYIC.

Pop-up Gaeltacht: October 8, 2025

In partnership with Gaeltact NYC, New York Irish Center presents a Pop-Up Gaeltacht--an informal gathering of Irish speakers of various abilities where they can meet and talk in a convivial atmosphere. Make your way to the New York Irish Center for an incomparable evening of networking, music, and discussion, all in Irish, through and through. Taking place in our Basement Library, light refreshments, bar. Live music with Madelyn Monaghan. Doors open 6pm.
