Blarney Star Concert Series: Diarmuid Ó Meachair, Matt Mulqueen, Andrew Caden

Diarmuid Ó Meachair & Matt Mulqueen return to NY Irish Center, this time accompanied by Andrew Caden!

Diarmuid Ó Meachair is a native of the Irish-speaking west Cork gaeltacht who currently teaches music and Irish at Holy Cross University, He is also a member of the renowned traditional music ensemble De Danann led by fiddler Frankie Gavin. Diarmuid has a particular interest in the lively, highly ornamented music recorded in the U.S. in the 20th century by John Kimmel, P.J. Conlon and Joe Derrane, as well as the sophisticated button accordion stylings of Finbar Dwyer. There is no better exponent of the melodeon and C#/D accordion today. Diarmuid will also sing Irish-language songs from his native Cork and will be accompanied on the piano by Baltimore-based keyboard great Matt Mulqueen.
