Irish Langauge Classes

Irish language class

New York Irish Center’s Irish language class will begin again in person this September for our Fall semester. We have a new Múinteoir: Joseph Jones. Joseph is an Irish speaker from West Belfast in County Antrim, now an actor, model, and creative ambassador based in New York. He was educated through Irish language medium education, where his family had to fight for the right to be taught in their native tongue.

A graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in Manhattan, he is an active member of the arts and Irish language community in Ireland and New York. Joseph also teaches courses at the Irish Arts Center in Manhattan and privately. He has worked with TG4, Foras na Gaeilge, and local councils. He is a regular contributor to Irish language media outlets including the BBC, RTÉ and Raidió na Gaeltachta - Ireland's national Irish language radio station. He is very passionate about the language/culture around it and loves to teach it in a fun contemporary way.
