President Mary McAleese

On
11th November, 1997, Mary McAleese was inaugurated as the eighth
President of Ireland. Mary McAleese was re-elected on Friday 1st
October 2004 being the only validly-nominated candidate. She is
a barrister and former Professor of Law.
Born on June 27th 1951 in Belfast, she is the first President to
come from Northern Ireland. She is married, since 1976, to Dr.
Martin McAleese, an accountant and dentist. They have three
children, Emma, born 1982 and twins Justin and SaraMai, born
1985.

Martin Cullen
is a
Teachta Dála (TD) for
Waterford and is currently the Minister for Transport.
Cullen has previously served as Minister for the Environment,
Heritage and Local Government, June 2002 – September 2004, and
as Minister of State at the Department of Finance, with special
responsibility for the Office of Public Works, 1997-2002.
Born Waterford November
1954, Martin has 3 sons and one daughter and was educated
Waterpark College and Waterford Regional Technical College. He
was first elected to Dail Eireann in 1987.

Enda Kenny, Leader - Fine

Enda
Kenny is a Teachta Dála (TD) for Mayo and the current
leader of Fine Gael. the largest opposition
party in Dáil Éireann. Kenny has previously
served as Minister for Tourism and Trade
(1994–1997) and as a junior Minister under
Garret Fitzgerald during the 1980s.
Enda Kenny was born in Castlebar, County Mayo
and was educated in Castlebar, St. Patrick's
Teacher Training College, Drumcondra and
University College Galway. He qualified as a
primary school teacher. Kenny has represented
the people of Mayo in Dáil Éireann since 1975
when he was first elected in a by-election
following the death of his father, Henry Kenny.
He has been elected at nine consecutive
elections since then as a Fine Gael TD.

Dermot Ahern, Irish
Minister for Foreign Affairs
Dermot
Ahern is currently a Teachta Dála (TD) for Louth and Minister
for Foreign Affairs. Ahern has previously served as Minister for
Community, Social & Family Affairs (1997-2002) and Minister for
Communications, Marine & Natural Resources (2002-2004).
Dermot Ahern was born in Drogheda, County Louth in 1955 and was
educated at the Marist College, Dundalk and University College
Dublin. He qualified with a degree in law from the Incorporated
Law Society of Ireland. Ahern was elected to Louth County
Council as a Fianna Fáil representative in 1979 and served there
until 1991. He was elected to Dáil Éireann in 1987 and has
retained his seat ever since.
