New York Irish Center

Want To Learn The Fiddle?

Every Thursday night the sounds of traditional Irish airs can be heard coming from the Center's Library.  Niall Mulligan, a native of Antrim, has been teaching fiddle with us for several years, under the umbrella of the Mulligan-Quinn  Comhaltas Branch, where he also teaches in Mineola, Nassau County.  Niall performed with the 1997 Comhaltas Tour Of Britain, as both a fiddler-player and dancer, and later with Irish Band More Power To Your Elbow,  Riverdance the Show, and also Riverdance on Broadway.  In the short space of time he has been teaching here, he has successfully produced qualifiers for the prestigious Fleadh Cheoil na h'Eireann which was held in County Cavan, including the under-15 Fiddle section. Niall teaches all levels of traditional fiddle to all ages, from  beginners to advanced students. Niall is an extremely gifted musician in his own right and the Center is delighted to have him.
